Under the Funeral Services Act, General Regulation, Section 29 allows for the AFSRB to require continuing education for funeral directors, embalmers, dual funeral director/embalmer, pre-need salespersons and business managers. The requirement that the AFSRB has in place is 12 credits every three years. Three of the credits will be determined by the AFSRB as a mandatory course and the other 9 credits are at the discretion of the individual licensee. The AFSRB does not pre-approve courses or programs that may be available to licensees. Instead, the onus falls to the individual licensee to justify the courses they have taken in relation to the Core Competencies, a link to these core competencies is included below. The continuing education submission form from the previous session is also included below to give an example of the information that will be required for submission.
