What Kind of Casket?

The price of a casket must be taken into account when you consider the total cost of a funeral. Prices range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on whether you choose a plywood, cloth covered, hardwood or metal casket.

You may have to ask to see less expensive caskets - often they are not on display. Plywood caskets can usually be purchased on request. In some areas, a rental casket is available for use during the funeral services. A home-made casket can also be used. If cremation is chosen, a casket or appropriate cremation container is still required.
